Summer Institute: Ocean Beach

On our last day of the Summer Institutes, teachers investigated Ocean Beach, paying close attention to the sand on the beach. We looked for patterns, noticed where the waves were, and observed differences in the sand the closer we got to the ocean waves.

During the second half of the day, we went to the SFUSD's Environmental Science Center near Fort Funston. We discussed how to adapt FOSS lessons to the NGSS standards, and how to bring what we learned during the Summer Institute into the classroom.
