September Meeting
Wednesday, September 6 marked our first meeting of the 2017-2018 school year!
This meeting focused on using backwards planning to document how an NGSS practice is integrated in to lessons. Since the partial eclipse was fresh in the minds of the teachers, we did this through an exploration of UV beads. After some free exploration in grade level teams with various methods of sun protection, teachers worked together to design a lesson, using the beads, that brought to life an NGSS practice or some aspect of the engineering design process.
Then, each teacher acted as a representative for their grade level to explain their lesson plans to mixed grade level colleagues.
After this jigsaw, teachers discussed how they plan to support their school sites in implementing the NGSS.
